Cricket makes its Muve to tiered data

Leap Wireless’ Cricket Communications will launch a new pricing plan next month that gives customers more choices, and potentially less data. Cricket is a major player in the fast-growing prepaid market, and until now has offered its customers 2.5GB of data, plus a popular music download app called Muve Music on many of its smartphones. Now, Muve will be standard on all Cricket’s Android phones, and music downloads will not count as part of users’ data allotments.

Data will be priced at $50/month for 1GB, $60/month for 2.5GB, and $70/month for 5GB. Right now, smartphone users pay Cricket $55/month for 2.5GB or $65/month for 2.5GB plus Muve Music. So the new plan is a good deal for customers who download music, something a great many Cricket customers obviously do. The company has reportedly said that it is not unusual for its customers to use 3-5GB of data each month on music downloads.Follow me on Twitter.
