Verizon announces new global organization

In a move to help it provide fully integrated enterprise-class solutions, Verizon Communications (VZ) today announced the creation of a new global organization that will oversee all business, government and wholesale operations from across the company’s wireless and wireline businesses.

John Stratton, previously executive vice president and chief operating officer of Verizon Wireless, has been named president of the new organization, to be called Verizon Enterprise Solutions, the company said.

The new organization will oversee all of Verizon’s solutions for business and government customers, including its portfolio of enterprise mobility, cloud and IT, strategic networking and advanced communications offerings, as well as specialized solutions for key industries such as health care, travel and transportation, retail, utilities and financial services, and IT consulting services. Additionally, Verizon Enterprise Solutions will include the company’s global wholesale offerings, the company said.

“Enterprise and government customers are looking for complete solutions. By aligning our efforts, we will be uniquely positioned to meet business customer needs,” said Lowell McAdam, Verizon’s president and CEO.

“We know that the intersection of mobility, cloud computing and security will drive a revolution in enterprise IT over the next ten years. This change will allow us to leverage all of our technology assets to take advantage of growth opportunities around the world,” McAdam added.

Stratton will lead a team of experienced executives from across Verizon, including:

Bob Toohey, who will serve as chief operating officer. Toohey, who served previously as president of Verizon Business, will lead all global sales and operations functions, providing enterprise and government customers with advanced industry solutions.

Mike Millegan, who will continue to serve as global president of wholesale, with responsibility for the company’s global wholesale strategy and business operations.

Ajay Waghray, Verizon Wireless’ chief information officer, who will serve as CIO and lead IT initiatives.

Kerry Bailey, currently group president of Verizon’s Terremark IT solutions arm, will serve as chief marketing officer.
