The projections, seem to be based on the use of ATSC Mobile handheld technologies ( ATSC M/H) in a number of markets in the US and other countries following the ATSC standards. The fact that this technology has a bright future can not be disputed as it is backed by OMVC and major broadcasters. However to believe that over 500 million ATSC tuners will be sold for different types of devices may be optimistic. If these numbers arise owing to the use of other technologies as well including Wireless, WiMAX,3G and LTE, the numbers would be more like it.The problem I have with these predictions is that we are dealing with all three entirely new technologies of LTE, WiMAX and ATSC M/H. Unfortunately such new technologies have myriad ways of moving the markets. Some of these could be major market shifters.Second, the wireless use of mobile content is likely to be far more pervasive than is factored in.http://www.mobiletvhome.com
