RCR Wireless News' Mobile Movers & Shakers 2008: The full list
December 11 2008 - 5:59 am ET | RCR Wireless News
Dale Sohn, president, Samsung Tele-communications America, is one of RCR Wireless News' Mobile Movers & Shakers for 2008.
Welcome to our inaugural special report on Mobile Movers and Shakers for 2008. In this report, RCR Wireless News recognizes just some of the people who have been or hope to be instrumental in shaping the industry, leading it into new areas and creating for it fresh opportunities.
We've been doling out the list over the past few days, but today we've included all 20 selections.
This list is by no means exhaustive, either in terms of nominees or categories. It leaves out many worthy candidates, a point that we want to acknowledge upfront. In fact, we received more than 400 nominations from readers.
It also isn’t a list of “winners.” Some of the companies represented herein have yet to experience financial or critical success.
Indeed, this list is just a starting point — for us and, we hope, for you. So please enjoy our first attempt at assembling a linear list out of this messy, chaotic and topsy-turvy industry, even as we begin to take a closer look at some of the people who likely will be next year’s movers and shakers. — Tracy Ford, Editor and Associate Publisher

Dan Hesse has done a far better job managing Sprint then Gary Forsee ever did. I only wish that Sprint would have had Hesse around during the merger that Forsee failed. I think that Hesse has done an excellent job with turning around things they way he has. Give it time and people will see the differences that he has made. Also, CEO's of ATT and VZW have done nothing as moving as Hesse has!

Out of 400 applicants only 1 woman made the list.

Interesting that Hesse is listed as the Tier 1 mover and shaker when, in the same Daily Update, there's the headline: "Sprint Nextel tumbles to ‘junk’ ". He's moved and shaken them to a 2+M loss in customers and to a junk credit rating...

Motorola should hire Mr. Sohn. He could negotiate at least $30 million from the desperate Motorola board. Now, it's not as much as CC Sebathia is getting from the Yankees. But, $30 million is what Mr. Jha is getting in 2010 for showing up to work - thanks to the MOT board. And not a peep or a hoot from Mr. Icahn. Maybe Steinbrenner is telling Carl to keep his mouth shut, so Steinbrenner doesn't look the fool for overpaying CC by about $60.
