Infrastructure awards wrap-up: Nortel, Alvarion, Aruba and more

The following list details this week's infrastructure awards for the cellular, Wi-Fi, and WiMAX industries. The contracts are broken down by transmission technology, country and vendor. The value of the contract is included when available.
Cellular
--China: China Telecom has chosen Nortel Networks to be a vendor in the evolution of the carrier’s CDMA network in seven provinces.
--Tunisa: Tunisiana chose Nokia Siemens Networks to modernize the carrier’s GPRS network.
WiMAX
--France: Alvarion announced it has extended its frame agreement with French WiMAX operator Altitude to include expanding coverage to the regions of Deux Sevres and Jura.
--United States: Zing, a next-generation wireless service provider in Detroit, has chosen Aperto Networks to provide its PacketMAX solution for a multistate WiMAX network. The network eventually is expected to cover Michigan, Washington, Colorado, Florida and Tennessee.
Miscellaneous
--Taiwan: Aruba Networks said Taichung Veterans General Hospital has chosen it to supply a wireless medical network. The hospital has 1,515 beds, employs 2,918 doctors and staff, and serves 5,000 patients daily.

The way things are going, I doubt anyone will be going out on any of these projects. everything may be on hold.I miss the work, the money and the travel, but now I'm glad I'm retired and have Veteran's Disability Healthcare and pay.
