The following list details this week's infrastructure awards for the cellular, Wi-Fi, and WiMAX industries. The contracts are broken down by transmission technology, country and vendor. The value of the contract is included when available.

Cellular

--Bangladesh: Teletalk Bangladesh chose Nokia Siemens Networks to modernize the carrier’s core network and double its subscriber capacity.

--Czech Republic: Huawei said it won a deal with Telefonica O2 Czech Republic to expand the carrier’s 3G network coverage based on UMTS/HSDPA technology.

--Panama: Ericsson said it signed a sole-supplier agreement with Digicel Group for the nationwide deployment of a GSM/EDGE network in the country.

WiMAX

--Greece: Aperto Networks said its PacketMAX base station and subscriber units have been deployed in a pilot network by OTE in the Halkidiki region of northern Greece. The network provides broadband voice and data services for several monasteries and religious sites on Mount Athos, the oldest surviving monastic community in the world.

--Pakistan: Motorola announced it signed a multiyear WiMAX contract with Wi-tribe Pakistan to supply infrastructure and services to offer broadband wireless services to its customers.

--United States: Alvarion said Wisper High Speed Internet has chosen its WiMAX equipment to help the carrier expand its services for residential and commercial customers across Minnesota.
