PCS Mail scheduled for deletion at Sprint Nextel

August 11 2008 - 1:09 pm ET | Colin Gibbs | RCR Wireless News

--

Sprint Nextel Corp. is quietly pulling the plug on its PCS Mail service.

A longtime service that never seemed to find an audience, PCS Mail offers a carrier-branded e-mail address (@sprintpcs.com) for users looking to exchange messages from computers or Sprint phones. The carrier informed customers via a page on its Web site that it will discontinue PCS Mail at the end of this year.

While the struggling operator offered no explanation, the move is likely a cost-cutting effort that seems unlikely to offend many subscribers. Sprint Nextel is encouraging PCS Mail users to move to services from other providers — including AOL, Google, Microsoft and Yahoo — and offers instructions on how to transfer address books and saved e-mails to the new accounts.

Sprint is a joke and the laughing stock of Kansas City. Mention Sprint locally and people cringe. Tell someone you work there and they snicker. Customers are not the only ones leaving in mass, the talent at Sprint has long been gone. Nothing left but office politicians and hangers on.

Get MIT quickly! We need to clone Jobs and Gates. Almost all of the cell phone companies are about as creative as snails. Of course Sprint will die soon. It is already dead for the most part. Silacon wants to buy the company and fix it. Contact us. Please send us your old cell phones!

Just one more clue there won't be a Sprint/Nextel much longer. Once Google buys the company, everyone can use google.com :-)

Mike, You suck!!! You don't know anything about Sprint-Nextel, as invester in this venture, why do you think they want to support a program that is not being used, that would be like YOU do up doing up keep on a junker car that has not gas tank... but I'm sure you could relate to that, as you ride the city bus.
