Gawker offers mobile update service

SAN JOSE, Calif.—Gawker Media, the company behind the pop culture and celebrity gossip Web blogs Gawker.com and Defamer.com, selected iLoop Mobile to develop a mobile subscription service for Gawker’s subscribers.

Gawker said it plans to use the service to provide daily messages complete with pop-culture gossip and celebrity sightings to its subscribers. The Defamer daily messages will include Hollywood- and Los Angles-focused content. Subscribers can purchase the service via text short codes for $5 per month.
