EMERYVILLE, Calif.-Sybase Inc. and Symbol Technologies announced they jointly plan to
develop a mobile enterprise platform, intended to create a new class of mobile business applications for the retail,
manufacturing, warehouse distribution and health-care markets.
The platform will combine Sybase’s SQL
Anywhere Studio and UltraLite deployment technology running on Symbol’s portable systems and handheld terminals
using the DOS, Windows CE and Palm Computing operating systems.
Symbol said it also plans to join Sybase’s
Mobile and Embedded Business Solutions Alliance Program.
