HOTSPOTS RELEASED FROM SPOT IMAGE

RESTON, Va.-Spot Image Corp. and Istar, a digital cartographer based in Sophia Antipolis, France, introduced HotSpots, a catalog of map packages containing satellite image maps, digital elevation/terrain models and clutter maps showing current land use.

The digital maps are especially useful for system planning and development in countries where no centralized mapping agency exists or where maps are outdated, the companies said. Satellite imagery of an area can be used to update maps every few days.

The mapping packages cover the most populated basic trading areas used for personal communications services development in the United States. Urban, metropolitan and larger regional areas are covered in the international mapping packages.
