Whoop Wireless launches the 10-4 SCI Small Cell Interface Head-end

Boca Raton, FL

Whoop Wireless LLC, an OEM of in-building mobile reception systems, is announcing the launch of the Whoop 10-4 Small Cell Interface Head–end (10-4 SCI) which provides an affordable yet high quality solution for mid-sized buildings. The 10-4 SCI supports mobile phone signal sources ranging from channelized over-the- air repeaters to 5W small cells provided by WSPs. Richard Paul- Hus, Whoop’s CEO, explained, “With the WSP’s densification efforts, securing rebroadcast agreements for over-the- air repeaters has become a challenge, particularly in urban markets.  Our SCI enables Whoop’s system to support small cells and femtocells.  In addition, the SCI can support WSP-approved channelized repeaters.”The 104 SCI is connected to Whoop’s Amplifier Array, which can serve all four Tier 1 WSPs at a fraction of the price of traditional systems.  The target market for the 10-4 SCI is enterprise funded systems for buildings of up to 250K square feet. Multiple 10-4 SCI’s can be used to cover areas of up to 500k square feet. SISO & MIMO configurations are available.

The 10-4 SCI features 10 input ports and 4 coverage sectors and has the flexibility to map capacity to any one, or all, of the four sectors. “With data traffic doubling almost annually, directing capacity to where building occupants need it will become crucial in the years ahead,” noted Rich Paul- Hus. “Our customers needed a solution that could support not only all WSPs signals, but also WSP capacity, with the ability to expand capacity as demand increases,” noted Phil Ziegler, Whoop’s CTO.

The SCI is modular, expandable (capacity can be added overtime with additional nodes) and evolutionary. Its architecture allows the building to expand or add frequency bands and supports beacons for positioning and analytics.

Whoop Wireless is a privately funded OEM of in-building mobile reception systems.  Founded in 2012, Whoop is headquartered in Boca Raton, FL, with R&D facilities in Silicon Valley.  Whoop entered the in-building mobile market with an over-the- air repeater solution supporting commercial 700, 800, 1900 and; 2100 MHz bands, which has been deployed in over 100 locations nationally.  The 10-4 SCI begins shipping April 2017.
