Recent acquisitions will help Amdocs accelerate digital strategy

Amdocs paid $260 million for Vindicia, Brite:Bill and Pontis

BERLIN – Amdocs believes the recent acquisition of three private companies will allow the firm to boost its digital strategy, the company’s Shuky Sheffel, president for the customer business group, said during a keynote at the Amdocs Experience 2017 event.

Last month, the company completed the acquisition of three privately owned companies – Vindicia, Brite:Bill and Pontis in a move to boost the company’s digital strategy. “It was not an easy task from the logistics point of view to close the acquisition of three firms on the same day,” the executive said.

These acquisitions put Amdocs in a position to start offering new products to telecom services providers willing to implement a digital strategy through a rapid process, he added.

Silicon Valley-based Vindicia is a provider of software-as-a-service subscription management and payment solutions, processing payments for digital content, over-the-top entertainment, online subscriptions and on-demand services.

Meanwhile, Dublin, Ireland-based Brite:Bill’s technology and services transform invoices into a personalized, digital, interactive billing experience in the channel of the customer’s choice, the executive said.

Tel-Aviv, Israel-based Pontis is a provider of contextual digital engagement solutions. Pontis’ real-time decisioning and learning technology enables service providers to offer their customers personalized contextual interactions. With Pontis, Amdocs will be able to help service providers determine the next best action for customer engagement and then offer the customer, across outbound and inbound channels, the most appropriate service. Pontis said it currently serves 600 million end users. Some of its customers include Vodafone, TIM, T-Mobile US and Telefónica.

Amdocs believes that these three acquisitions, alongside its existing platforms, which include multichannel, digital care and commerce, customer management, and big data analytics solutions, will certainly allow the company to help communication and media providers with the implementation of digital strategies.

The three companies were acquired for a combined amount of approximately $260 million in cash. Amdocs said the acquisitions are expected to contribute 1.5-2.0% to the firm’s overall revenue for the full fiscal year 2017.

Ronen Levkovich, Amdocs’ EMEA president, said the company is recruiting additional staff and opening new offices across the EMEA region to better serve its customers in that area. “We currently have 350 customers globally, from small [mobile virtual network operators] to global telecoms operators.”

Levkovich also said that Amdocs will continue to invest in research and development, mainly in digital and cloud-based services. The executive also highlighted that Amdocs continues its efforts to expand its current partner ecosystem.
