Verizon Wireless military discounts updated

Verizon Wireless military discounts lose minimum, applied to more than 100,000 accounts

In a nod to current and former members of the military, Verizon Wireless eliminated the minimum plan requirements for its 15% military discounts and is automatically applying the discount to more than 100,000 eligible accounts.

The discount is available to active, former and retired members of the military, with the carrier saying the automatic application of the discount was made through an analysis of its current customers identified as current and former military men and women.

“We want to give active duty service members and veterans one less thing to think about when doing business with us,” said David Small, EVP of wireless operations at Verizon. “Verizon highly values the men and women in the Armed Forces. From simple discounts to hiring vets when they return, it’s important for them to know that we have their backs.”

Verizon Wireless noted in addition to the monthly service discounts, it also offers a 25% discount on accessories and a 12% discount on select calling features, including its International Travel to Mexico and Canada, its Hum telematics service and “Tech Coach.” The carrier, like many of its rivals, also allows service members to suspend service or reconnect service for no charge when deployed.
