Details of new Apple, Samsung smartphones leaked?

The Internet is abuzz after potential details of the next-generation flagship phones from industry leaders Apple and Samsung were leaked online in separate incidents, according to multiple reports.

The release date of the Samsung Galaxy S7 was potentially leaked during a conference hosted by China Mobile, which is the largest wireless carrier in the world with more than 800 million subscribers. Before the reported China Mobile leak, industry speculation was Samsung would reveal the Galaxy S7 in the same manner as it unveiled the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, which came last year during Mobile World Congress. The Galaxy S7 will be revealed in a similar fashion, according to the leaked image posted to social media site Weibo, and hit retail locations in the following weeks.

Some specs of the phone, as reported by Slash Gear, include a 5.1-inch display, 3,500-mAh battery and microSD card slot for additional storage.

Moving over to the Apple leak, this rumor is based on a photograph that has been widely recirculated.

The image is apparently of the new phone, on the right and alternatively called the iPhone 6c or iPhone 5se, pictured next to an iPhone 5; the takeaway is the new phone returns to the four-inch screen size.

According to Tech Times, the new Apple phone could be released in March. From the article, “it will also feature specs that are at par with previous generation iPhone 6 in order to maintain the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus’ flagship status.”
