T-Mobile Simple Choice changes migrate to enterprise base

T-Mobile ‘Un-carrier X’ changes to Simple Choice rate plans now available to enterprise base

T-Mobile US’ recently launched changes to its Simple Choice program were also pushed to its enterprise business, which the carrier said has seen a strong surge in mobile data usage.

T-Mobile US said the surge has seen its enterprise data usage increase 84% year-over-year. The carrier noted that since it’s enterprise-focused “Un-carrier 9.0” event earlier this year it has been signing up business customers at twice the pace compared with before the Business Unleashed announcement, with 33% of Fortune 500 companies subscribing to T-Mobile US service. The carrier also claims it’s “attracting more business customers than we are consumers per capita,” adding its porting ratios for enterprise customers were higher than its consumer market.

As part of its “Un-carrier X” announcement last week, T-Mobile US altered its multiline Simple Choice rate plans to now include 6 gigabytes of data per line as opposed to the previously offered 10 GB of data per line. The carrier launched the new pricing with the same four-line promotion it had been offering that provided each line with 10 GB of data at the $120 per month price point.

The carrier also doubled the no-cost data allotment on its plans from 1 GB of unthrottled access to 2 GB, nearly matching a previous promotion that offered customers 2.5 GB of data as part of the base Simple Choice package. T-Mobile US also altered its “unlimited” data plan, which now allows for up to 14 GB of tethering usage per month instead of the current offer of just 7 GB.

For business customers, T-Mobile US said every line in excess of 10 lines would run $15, and enterprises would receive a 50% discount on extra data packages up to 12 lines of service.
