August 19 was the inaugural episode of Cell Tower News with host Joey Jackson, editor and production manager for RCR Wireless News. Jackson is also joined by RCR Wireless News content marketing and demand generation specialist Jarad Matula to provide a weekly round up of headlines from the tower industry.

Travis Swicegood, campus director at The Iron Yard,  joined this episode of Inside Telecom Careers with host Karla Macias. The Iron Yard is a national code school with a campus in Austin, Texas. Swicegood gave insight on how to better understand where and how software developers learn to code. Also joining the discussion is Coder’s host, Victor Agreda and editorial director at RCR Wireless news, Jeff Mucci. Swicegood and Agreda also share how software development and training trends have developed over the years.

Wi-Fi Now aired it’s third episode on August 19. Host Claus Hetting is joined by Vivek Ganti of CableLabs and Mobile Experts’ analyst Joe Madden. This episode focuses on improving Wi-Fi quality with FILS and why the carrier Wi-Fi market is upside down. Also, in the weekly news, Hetting talks about iPass and Devicescape teaming up to produce a network of 50 million hotspots.

The medical data above us was the subject for the most recent episode of IoT Innovation with host Chris Hare. Joining this episode of IoT Innovation is Dan Pollard, CEO of MyDrugCosts, a company dedicated to delivering drug costs and side effect information to patients to empower their care and reduce costs.  Hare and Pollard discuss the incredible amount of private data available and the range that will be led by sensors and live links from IoT devices.

This episode of Coders focuses on game design and game development. Ryan Waller, a game developer in Tennessee and president of Forthright Entertainment, joins Victor Agreda to discuss creating independent video games. Agreda and Waller explain what makes games, what it takes to build a business making games and how bandwidth and networks play a part in a game’s success.

Host Dan Meyer examines how NFV can bolster voice and video capacity on this edition of NFV/SDN Reality Check. Featured guest is Sven Freudenfeld from Kontron. Meyers and Freudenfeld discuss the impacts of alternative data services like VoLTE and WebRTC are having on telecom networks and where NFV comes into play in tackling those challenges. Freudenfeld also explained the importance of partnerships in order for vendors to meet carrier needs, citing Kenton’s work with Intel, Alcatel-Lucent and Vantrix.

 

This episode of HetNet Happenings, hosted by Sean Kinney, featured Manish Jindal. Jindal is head of strategy development and portfolio management at Ericsson. Kinney and Jindal discussed the networked society and what connects this society. Jindal also explains the different verticals that Ericsson is looking into when it comes to the networked society.
