Samsung launch, Sprint small cells (RCR podcast)

Samsung has set the date for its next product launch. The world’s leading smartphone maker will unveil its new products on August 13 — in plenty of time to get out ahead of Apple’s next launch, which is expected this fall. Samsung has not said what it will announce, but The Verge has a good story about the leaks that have been coming out around the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus — so it’s a good bet that Samsung will bring a new smartphone and a new phablet to market this fall.

In other news, we continue to hear chatter about a Sprint small cell rollout, although the carrier has confirmed nothing yet. The city of San Francisco says Mobilitie has signed a master lease agreement with the intention of serving Sprint’s network. Mobilitie is expected to partner with Sprint on small cells. Verizon is already at work preparing for a small cell deployment in San Francisco with ExteNet.
