PAARL, SOUTH AFRICA – Atlas Tower, a successful Colorado-based company that owns and operates communication towers in 11 U.S. states, announced successful completion of its first seven towers in South Africa. With 13 more in construction and expected to be completed by April, Atlas is in a rapid deployment phase. After operating under Atlas Tower Proprietary Limited for only seven months, Atlas has more than 150 sites in development. Founder & CEO Nathan Foster said, “South Africa represents a departure from our careful and calculated 15-tower/year U.S. business model to a more rapid 60-tower/year business. We carefully assessed foreign opportunities and came to the conclusion that although South Africa is a challenging and complex market to enter, it provides us the kind of regulatory environment that we believe drives value.”

The South African business is projected to be fast growing for the next 24 months. When asked about the biggest challenge in creating an organic tower business in another country, Foster said, “Carefully separating stakeholders who promote and embellish their value from those who are actually valuable.”
