Sprint targets enterprise customers with ‘double data’ promotion

Sprint is looking to attract high-value enterprise customers from rivals with a new promotion that mimics what it has already been offering to consumers.

Sprint said that through the end of the month, business customers that bring their phone number to Sprint and activate a non-subsidized device on a Business Share Plan will have their per-line access charges waived through the end of 2015. Those customers will still have to pay the per-monthly charge for their choice of data buckets, but those buckets will be able to take advantage of Sprint’s recently launched increase in data bucket sizes.

Business customers can bring up to 100 lines of service to share in a single data bucket, with the usual $15 per-month, per-line charge waived for smartphones, as well as the monthly access charges for mobile broadband devices and tablets. Those devices will have to either be paid for upfront or be purchased through Sprint’s Easy Pay device payment plan.

Sprint last week began offering business customers double the sharable data on its 40 GB, 60 GB, 80 GB and 100 GB Business Share plans for no additional charge if they sign up for service by Oct. 31. Those plans will now include 80 GB of data for $135; 120 GB of data for $200; 160 GB for $270; and 200 for $330.

Sprint in August updated its consumer-oriented family plans with the inclusion of waiving the per-line access fee on devices through the end of 2015. That move came just weeks after Sprint replaced long-time CEO Dan Hesse with Marcelo Claure.

Sprint’s initial increase in the size of its data buckets followed a move by AT&T Mobility, which was then followed by Verizon Wireless, though Sprint’s move continued its pledge to offer “double the data” of its rivals. The business push comes just as AT&T Mobility also announced plans to extend its “double data” promotion to business customers.
