ST-Ericsson set to lose CEO

Chip maker ST-Ericsson announced that president and CEO Didier Lamouche would be leaving his position to pursue other opportunities effective March 31. The company, which is a joint venture between STMicroelectronics and Ericsson, did not name a successor.

Lamouche was previously CEO of STMicroelectronics before taking the head position at ST-Ericsson.

STMicroelectronics noted late last year that it planned to exit the JV as part of an internal reorganization plan. That news followed a previous reorganization by ST-Ericsson that saw the company cut 1,700 jobs.

Ericsson last year took a $1.2 billion write down on its investment in ST-Ericsson, though it did note it planned to keep the chip division.
