CTIA’s fall show set for Bay Area return

Following several years of being hosted in San Diego, wireless trade association CTIA said that its 2013 MobileCon event, also known as its fall trade show, will be held in San Jose, Calif., Oct. 16-18.

The trade association noted that the event, which this year took on a greater mobile enterprise focus following years of trying to meld together the enterprise and applications world, will take on the entrepreneurial spirit of the region.

“The move to Silicon Valley brings an entrepreneurial spirit to MobileCon that we think will be contagious as we build on the success of the 2012 show,” said Robert Mesirow, VP and show director at CTIA.

CTIA’s fall show, which has seen wavering attendance levels, had previously seen its home fluctuate between Southern California and the Bay Area, but more recently was housed in San Diego after CTIA in 2010 sued the city of San Francisco over an ordinance that required retailers to post specific absorption rates of mobile devices.
