Leap launches video-viewing features

Cricket Communications Inc. said it is giving customers all the video their eyes can take, for $5 a month. The subsidiary of Leap Wireless International Inc., Cricket is offering unlimited mobile video service, allowing customers to view a selection of video clips, one-to-four minutes in length. The clips range from music videos, artist interviews, music documentaries to sports clips and entertainment news. The $5 add-on plan can merge with any of Cricket’s monthly rate plans will accrue no additional data charges.
The new service will also tailor video offerings and suggestions for customers based on popularity, along with previous and current selections the customer has viewed. The service is available now, on the carrier’s Motorola Inc. handsets including the L 7C, the V 3A, the V 3C, the B 9M, the Z 6M and the K 1M. Greg Lund, a Cricket spokesman, said more phones will soon be equipped to handle the video, most likely on Samsung devices.
