Wireless infrastructure awards wrap-up

The following list details this week’s infrastructure awards for the cellular, Wi-Fi and WiMAX industries. The contracts are broken down by transmission technology, country and vendor. The value of the contract is included when available.

Cellular

  • Spain: Huawei Technologies said Vodafone selected it to deliver and install the radio access portion of the carrier’s W-CDMA/HSDPA network for certain cities in Spain.

     

  • Taiwan: Chunghwa Telecom Co. Ltd. awarded a turnkey network expansion contract to Nokia Corp. that calls for the company to expand CHT’s W-CDMA 3G and HSDPA network coverage.

 

Wi-Fi

  • United States: Alvarion Ltd. said it deployed a citywide wireless broadband network in the city of Cheyenne, Wyo., to support public safety and public works departments. In California, WiFi-CityWide, InfiNet Wireless and Lockheed Martin have partnered with Charter Business to build a pilot municipal Wi-Fi and public-safety network in support of their bid to the city of Riverside, Calif.
