BOSTON-Convergin unveiled its core network convergence solution that provides mobile capabilities for softswitch-based networks.
The Accolade core WCS platform creates a unified fixed and mobile core switching solution by interworking with wireline softswitches, said the company. Wireless and wireline carriers can leverage a softswitch-based packet network into a distributed mobile switching environment with gateway mobile switching center functionality, said Convergin.
The product supports mobile gateway switching for GSM, CDMA and UMTS networks and can be deployed in any packet network alongside a standard softswitch or media gateway controller.
“We see a strong market demand for distributed mobile switching solutions for operators based on softswitches and packet networks,” said Ayal Itzkovitz, chief executive officer of Convergin. “This offering is a significant step in service providers’ network evolution that realizes fixed-mobile convergence at the core and sets a proactive migration path to IMS.”
