Marshall University, West Virginia Wireless partner for campus solution

HUNTINGTON, W.V.-Marshall University has partnered with West Virginia Wireless for a campus-wide expansion of Marshall’s Mobile Alternative for Residents on Campus (MARC) wireless initiative, through which Marshall will provide wireless services to all of its student residents.

The expansion builds on a pilot project that provided wireless phones and service to 500 students living in four dormitories on the campus. Marshall plans to equip an additional 1,750 students in six other dormitories with wireless service by the Fall 2005 semester.

“This project demonstrates a bold, strategic technology step for the institution and its students while providing more personal security, connectivity and peace of mind to parents and friends reaching students when they’re away from their dormitories,” said Marshall’s President Dan Angel. “We’re pleased to be partnering with West Virginia Wireless as national leaders in this transition to a wireless residential campus.”
