Intel adds 802.11a capability to WLAN chip

SANTA CLARA, Calif.-Intel Corp. said it has introduced its wireless local area network chipset, which adds higher-speed 802.11a capability to its Centrino mobile technology for notebooks.

The product combines a and b capabilities to the technology.

“The addition of 802.11a to Intel Centrino mobile technology provides a wireless networking solution for targeted consumer and business applications that require higher levels of performance from WLAN deployments,” said Jim Johnson, vice president of the Intel Wireless Networking Group.
