M-Qube, Enpocket announce mobile marketing news

BOSTON-Two mobile marketing companies announced deals today, news that shows the continuing growth and potential of the wireless advertising industry.

First, marketing company M-Qube announced the next phase of its deal with radio company Clear Channel Communications, which involves a campaign with Boston radio station JAM’N 94.5. Under the service, station listeners can opt in to a text messaging advertising service and can learn of concert tickets in advance of public sale, respond to contests and be alerted of important news, station events and promotions.

“Mobile messaging is an ideal communications and marketing channel to integrate with radio,” said Dennis O’Heron, the station’s director of marketing. “We see that text messaging has become popular among young adults and are capitalizing on this trend to better serve our listeners and our advertisers. While we’ve really just begun to tap the potential of this new medium, we’re very encouraged by the early results.”

Separately, wireless marketing company Enpocket said it scored a deal with health care company NHS to offer a wireless reminder service to hospital patients. Under the service, the hospital will send out text message reminders for scheduled visits. Interestingly, Enpocket is also offering brand sponsorships, and milk drink company Yakult said it will sponsor the appointment reminders.

In another aspect of the mobile marketing industry, a New Zealand company said it is pursuing an international patent for its wireless marketing technology. Cool 123 said it has a patent pending for its marketing technology and has hired a law firm to represent its patent efforts.

Another mobile marketing company, Avesair, was recently acquired by mobile-phone reseller InPhonic.
